Efeca hosts first UK Sustainable Commodities Initiative Nature and Biodiversity Forum

At Efeca, we pride ourselves on our holistic approach to tackling complexity and delivering clarity, helping to build practical solutions that fit with the big picture. As part of this, we are hosting the UK Sustainable Commodities Initiative’s (UK SCI’s) first Nature and Biodiversity Forum in London on Friday 7th June 2024.

The UK SCI has led mass market supply chain action on deforestation and conversion since 2012, supporting UK industry to collectively develop sustainable, deforestation- and conversion-free supply chains of commodities including palm oil and soy. The UK SCI also continues to support companies to act across the broader sustainability agenda – including nature and biodiversity, which represents a rapidly evolving and pioneering area of private sector action.

Alongside the recent development of tools and frameworks such as the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) and Science Based Targets for Nature, companies are now piloting approaches and working to better understand the relationship between ongoing deforestation and conversion commitments and broader targets on nature.

We are working to support companies in understanding how such developments can empower them to act on nature, both individually and through collaborative action. It reflects a shifting mindset on private sector action on nature and biodiversity – not just preventing the conversion of natural ecosystems for agricultural production, but also understanding broader impacts and encouraging practices that regenerate nature and restore healthy ecosystems.
