Efeca was commissioned by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) to undertake a critical role in analysing and synthesising the Annual Communication of Progress (ACOP) submissions for 2016. The ACOP reports are essential documents submitted annually by RSPO members to demonstrate their progress towards achieving 100% RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil.

Our engagement began with providing preliminary analysis of the 2016 ACOP submissions for the Interim European Progress Report, which was presented at the RSPO Roundtable in June 2017. This initial phase involved digesting and analysing data from member submissions to outline key trends, challenges, and successes in advancing sustainable palm oil practices within the RSPO framework.

Subsequently, Efeca proceeded to produce the comprehensive ACOP 2016 Report. This involved a thorough analysis and narrative synthesis based on the detailed data provided by RSPO member submissions. Our task encompassed not only compiling the data but also interpreting its implications for the RSPO’s overarching goals and objectives.

The ACOP submissions are mandatory for RSPO Ordinary and Affiliate members and serve as a mechanism for transparency and accountability in the palm oil industry. They provide insights into members’ efforts in implementing RSPO principles and criteria across their operations, including progress towards achieving certification and addressing sustainability challenges.

Efeca’s expertise in sustainability and environmental consulting enabled us to provide valuable insights and recommendations through our analysis of the ACOP 2016 data. We highlighted areas of strength and identified opportunities for improvement, supporting RSPO members in their ongoing commitment to sustainable palm oil production and procurement.

Our collaboration with RSPO highlights our commitment to promoting sustainable practices within the palm oil sector. By synthesising and analysing member submissions, we contributed to the broader mission of RSPO to transform markets towards sustainable palm oil and promote environmental stewardship and social responsibility.
