Palm Oil Webinars

As part of our palm oil programme of support to industry, funded by the UK government’s Partnerships for Forests programme, Efeca wrote and recorded a series of webinars exploring various aspects of palm oil.

The webinar series covered:

#1 Alternatives to Palm Oil: The consequences of purchasing strategies for oils and fats, with a focus on palm oil: to buy or not to buy? Looked at chemical composition and functionality of various oils and fats, the drivers behind the alternative choices to palm oil, and the social, economic and environmental consequences of palm and alternative choices to palm oil.

#2 A more in-depth look at palm oil: is supporting sustainable palm oil crucial to the world?  Looked at palm oil and its alternatives: To use or not to use; is it that easy to move away from palm oil; what are the alternatives for manufacturers, processors and retailers

#3 Creating double standards in food and non- food. Palm oil debate continued. The importance of palm oil in personal and home care: Palm oil in the oleochemical sector

#4 Oils and fats: The palm oil in the Foodservice market

#5 The use of fatty acids from palm oil in animal nutrition.  In conjunction with VOLAC Wilmar Feed Ingredients, we look at how important palm oil is in the UK animal feed sector, highlight the UK’s drive towards 100% sustainable palm oil and how commitment to deforestation-free palm through RSPO, CSPO, or  NDPE can part of it.   Click on the title to watch the recording of the Zoom webinar.

#6 No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation Implementation Reporting Framework (NDPE IRF). With panelists from Proforest and AAK, we look at the role of the IRF and explores how it can benefit palm oil supply chains. What gap is it filling and why is it needed?  We examine the drivers behind the IRF’s creation and how it can complement other palm oil sustainability initiatives, for example certification schemes.  Lastly, we gain insight into the implementation and impact of the IRF on different areas of the palm oil supply chain including what challenges are associated with bringing it into effect and how they will be overcome.  Click on the title to watch the recording of the Zoom webinar.
